Bread HINTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More sugar => darker crust Whole wheat flour rises 2/3 as much as white flour Other additions (eg: oat bran, raisins, etc) will not cause bread to rise Water: gives French bread a crisp crust Milk: gives softer crust Herbs, spices, nuts, fruits, ect: limit to ~ 1/2 C as they affect ability of the dough to rise.
